Prehistoric Era
-147,000 Years Ago: The universe is created, and the Titans form the Pantheon to begin their quest to bring order to worlds. Sargeras, a Titan warrior, is tasked with defeating evil creatures. The Titans visit Azeroth, create laboratories, and leave the world to develop on its own. However, the world is invaded by parasitic beings known as the Old Gods, who corrupt the elemental beings and become the rulers of Azeroth.
Ancient History
-10,000 Years Ago: The War of the Ancients. The night elves, who recklessly use arcane magic, attract the attention of Sargeras and the Burning Legion. A war erupts, and the Well of Eternity is destroyed, causing the Great Sundering and splitting the continent of Kalimdor. The World Tree Nordrassil is created.
-6,800 Years Ago: Quel'Thalas is founded. The Highborne sorcerers are banished from Kalimdor and transform into high elves, founding the kingdom of Quel'Thalas and creating the Sunwell.
-2,800 Years Ago: The Troll Wars. The high elves of Quel'Thalas fight a brutal conflict with the native Amani trolls. The human tribes form the nation of Arathor and ally with the high elves to defeat the trolls.
-230 Years Ago: The War of the Three Hammers. A civil war erupts among the Bronzebeard, Wildhammer, and Dark Iron clans after the death of High King Modimus Anvilmar. The Bronzebeard clan emerges victorious and takes control of Ironforge.
First War
Year 0: The First War. Sargeras launches another attack on Azeroth, using orcs from Draenor as his pawns. Orc forces spill through the Dark Portal, causing widespread devastation.
Modern Era
Year 31: World of Warcraft: War Crimes (book) is set in the present and involves an alternate timeline of Warcraft history.
Year 31: World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor (game expansion) sees the Alliance attacked by the 'Iron Horde', the Horde from a parallel universe.
Year 32: World of Warcraft: Legion (game expansion) involves an orc from the alternate universe being sent to our universe to open a portal and allow the Burning Legion through again.
